A codename became
a way of thinking.

CiiLOCK was tired of rollers that failed early, made noise or changed from batch to batch. “Mother of All Rollers” was the project codename before the team knew what the final product would be: part frustration, part humour and a deliberately oversized brief.

BEFORE THE PRODUCT

The industry had learned
to live with variation.

Adding wheels looked like added capacity, yet rigid carriages could still leave only some wheels carrying the panel. Tolerances, installation and the running surface changed which wheels worked—and how hard they worked.

The CiiLOCK team kept rejecting early concepts because the goal was not a larger housing or a longer parts list. The useful wheels had to share the real door load.

THE BREAKTHROUGH

The clue was nearly
two thousand years old.

A Roman arch survives because each stone participates in compression, passing load through the structure and into the foundations. CiiLOCK did not put an arch under a door; it borrowed that organising principle.

MOR translated participation into a pressure-based, self-levelling roller architecture. Under the panel load, the mechanism can respond to the loaded system and variation along the running surface so the useful wheels can stay engaged and share the work.

THE MOR TIMELINE

One idea.
A widening footprint.

MOR grew inside CiiLOCK's engineering, testing and international expansion. These are the milestones that changed where the platform could be made, experienced and applied.

  1. 2005THE FOUNDATION

    CiiLOCK begins in Hallam.

    The company starts with the engineering-first culture that will later produce MOR.

  2. 2009THE DARE

    Mother of All Rollers begins.

    Noisy rollers, early failures and batch variation trigger a project that refuses to accept the usual carriage architecture. The codename sticks.

  3. 2010BUILD TO TEST

    A purpose-built technology circuit opens.

    CiiLOCK's new Hallam facility brings development and an in-house test laboratory closer together—an important environment for proving MOR under load.

  4. 2013UNITED KINGDOM

    MOR reaches a second home market.

    When CiiLOCK opens in Hinckley, the MOR story extends into the UK door and window industry.

    MOR receives a Good Design Award.

    The engineering codename is now an award-winning flagship roller.

    Manufacturing and sales expand.

    CiiLOCK China adds local manufacturing and market reach, bringing MOR into another major door-hardware region.

  7. 2018–20QUALITY + CAPACITY

    The platform gains stronger infrastructure.

    ISO 9001 certification formalises the quality system in 2018. In 2020, the UK operation expands into its flagship Stafford facility.

  8. 2021TESTING + POWERED MOTION

    The MOR way of thinking moves into VOLTA.

    CiiLOCK's NATA-accredited test laboratory strengthens independent capability. VOLTA, an evolution of MOR thinking into powered movement, wins AGWA Most Innovative Component.

  9. 2022EXPERIENCE THE MOVEMENT

    The Melbourne showroom opens.

    Architects, fabricators and customers can experience CiiLOCK door-motion technologies in full-size systems rather than judging hidden hardware in isolation.

  10. 2024VOLTA V2

    Powered motion wins state and national recognition.

    VOLTA V2 is named Victorian and National Winner for Most Innovative Component at the AGWA Design Awards.

    MOR arrives in Brazil and South Africa.

    The Naked series advances MOR's material strategy and receives Victorian Winner and National Highly Commended recognition from AGWA. CiiLOCK also presents its expanding range at Archify and the Home Show.

  12. 2026THE PLATFORM WIDENS

    India and the United States join the MOR footprint.

    MOR Lift & Slide launches, Silent Steel is announced and the Naked series receives a Fensterbau Innovation Award. CiiLOCK exhibits its door-motion work at Polyclose and Fensterbau.

THE ORIGINAL INNOVATION

Participation before
wheel quantity.

The proposition is easy to state and difficult to engineer: help the useful wheels stay in contact and share the door load before asking any one wheel to do more.

The panel applies load.

The mechanism becomes active under the real weight of the door.

The architecture responds.

Pressure-based self-levelling accommodates loaded variation rather than relying on rigid equality alone.

Useful wheels participate.

More engaged wheels can reduce the work concentrated at each contact point.

The whole door still matters.

Roller performance cannot correct a dragging seal, unsupported track, damaged running surface or poor installation. Final operating force, noise, life and load rating depend on the complete system and must be confirmed for the application.

WHY THE NAME STAYED

The name was a dare.
The platform became the proof.

The codename existed before anyone knew exactly what the final product would be. It held the frustration, ambition and humour of an engineering team that had decided ordinary roller behaviour was no longer good enough.

Once the self-levelling solution emerged, no smaller name felt honest. CiiLOCK had set out to create the Mother of All Rollers—and could no longer imagine calling it anything else.
